Public Knowledge
To advance public knowledge of complementary therapies and natural medicine, and to encourage the understanding and support of the governing authorities of the professions of medicine, pharmacy and nursing. |
Freedom of Choice For the benefit of the public at large, to promote the understanding and awareness of the bodies responsible for licensing medicines and of their statutory advisors, by supplying information about the methods and practice of natural medicine in order to preserve the freedom of choice of the public at large to receive treatment by natural medicines. |
Research To encourage research to ascertain the efficacy, or otherwise, of therapies and to improve and develop, natural medicines and treatments relating to these therapies and to publish the results of such research. |
| Knowledge and Practice To advance the knowledge and practice of and expertise in systems of natural medicines and of therapies practised anywhere in the world, by world-wide research. Also to study natural substances used as medicines by various ethnic and religious cultures of the world, and the botanical and scientific knowledge still to be found in these cultures and their relevance to the systems of natural medicine practised in the United Kingdom. |
Efficacy and Safety
To seek and assess information from the users of natural medicines and therapies in the United Kingdom relating to the efficacy and safety of such treatments, so as to increase public awareness of these. |
Treatment of Choice To work for free access to the treatment of their choice, by the practitioners of their choice for all patients, and to work towards appropriate regulation of health professions to ensure patient safety. |
