First Major NMS Publication

The NMS has teamed up with Bloomsbury Publishing for its first major publication to be sold through major bookstores on general distribution. Published at end of 1999.
"Natural Medicine: A practical guide to family health" is the ultimate home medical resource for people interested in alternative and complementary medicine.
This was truly an NMS `family´ collaboration; the concept was put forward in 1993 by the Society´s Executive Director, Sato Liu who was the book“s Consultant Editor. Former NMS Council member, Beth MacEoin was commissioned to write the book, Leslie Kenton, the Society´s first Chairperson wrote the Foreword and the book introduction was written by Beth´s husband, NMS Chairman since 1993, Denis MacEoin.
The six sections to the book cover major and popular alternative and complementary therapies; the practical aspects of when to self-prescribe; how to obtain, look after and use your remedies; suggestions for putting together a First-aid kit; and guidelines on how to find and choose a qualified practitioner.
There is a chapter on remedies for first-aid treatment and conditions covered from head to toe, including pregnancy, babies and children and problems experienced with the ageing process. Chronic conditions are also discussed and helpful suggestion for all conditions are given throughout the book, with clear indications on when you should seek professional medical advice.
At the end of the book is a list of useful organisations and their address details, suggested further reading and also an A-Z of conditions and medicinal products, giving many of the available remedies that may be helpful for the given condition.
We are very proud of this our first major publication - this book is a comprehensive guide for everyone interested in natural medicines, whether patient or practitioner from either conventional or alternative medical and therapeutic systems.
